Your Trusted Guide Through Complex Trauma
Hello, My name is Michael Wong. I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Washington. I attended my undergraduate studies at the University of Washington and obtained my Bachelor's in Psychology. After graduation, I worked in the field of domestic violence advocacy. While working in the field of domestic violence I saw the impacts that trauma had on our mental health. I then went on to complete my Master in Education for Mental Health Counseling at the University of Puget Sound.
As licensed mental health counselor I have build strong focus on working with complex trauma. Complex trauma can consist of experiences with childhood abuse, childhood neglect, abandonment, domestic violence, emotional abuse, and mental abuse. As a result, this can cause individuals to experience a variety of mental health symptoms of anxiety, depression, shame, guilt, anger, mood disorders, and strain on our quality of life.
I will provide a safe space that is trauma-informed and nonjudgmental. I believe that everyone is unique in their own journey through life and will collaborate with each individual on creating a tailored treatment plan. I work with adolescents, adults, families, and older adults. I often provide an eclectic approach and will integrate various therapeutic approaches to provide an effective counseling session. The therapeutic approaches are humanistic therapies, holistic therapies, person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic therapy, compassion-focused therapy, strength-based therapy, interpersonal therapy, multicultural counseling, and trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy.
I provide supportive counseling for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, grief and loss, postpartum depression and anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, complex trauma, adjustment disorder, intergenerational trauma, interpersonal relationship challenges, and life stressors.
